even librarians get the blues

A blog that started as online library work, but has deteriorated into the truly ridiculous. And for the record, this bears a striking resemblance to the television trash known as Laguna Beach: the people, the locations, and the drama...are real.

So long, and thanks for all the fish

I'm a little sad-face that grad school is over- I will miss the people, MaryKay's luncheons and endless candy, the resources. But I will not miss Blackboard, online chats that ball up my Sunday/Monday nights, and 193-page PDF files.

At any rate, I think the end of my online education marks the end of this blog. This place is dead anyway.

You kids know how to reach me. Good luck, and congrats to us!

One random life

First, a list of things I found today:
1. Pancake mix in the kitchen cupboard.
1a. It expired January 8, 2006.
2. This really cute picture circa 1987:

Next, speaking of pictures!, my kids just finished a unit I created about (drumroll!) the neighborhoods of Pittsburgh. Look at this gorgeousness!!

Map : find your 'hood! Enrichment : listening to podcasts about great things from the Steel City

Kids wrote postcards from their neighborhoods. And created said postcards with pictures and word art.

It doesn't look like much, but getting 40 kids to write two-page reports with a variety of sources, little plagiarism, and true admiration for where they lived was a major milestone.

I love my job, and this has been such an awesome year with the fourth graders. Awww. Or AWW SNAP!

The worst thing ever

is when you are innocently flipping around the channels and you stumble upon the middle of a surgery on Dr. 90210. Seriously, we may have a vomit situation in t-minus five.

I'm sure you're already seen this, but it is still funny.

This proves my theory that babies CANNOT BE TRUSTED because they know exactly what they are doing. They just pretend to not know how to read.

"Western mediation"? Are you joking?

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/02/17/kosovo.independence/index.html
"...the Serbian people can know they have a friend in America"? Since when?

I'm not saying that Albanians should get kicked out, and I'm not even saying that I have a liable solution. And I've never really been political, but it just makes me mad that people over here have to get involved over there when they just don't get it.

And I miss when Kosovo was in much funnier news instead: http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message107502/pg1

"February is as useless as the extra R in its name."

It's the first snow day of the year, and I've celebrated with laundry and lots of TV. I am so excited that this foolish month is almost halfway over, because that means we are closer and closer to the end of this semester and the end of grad school looming over my head.

In other news, I've discovered over the past few months that I actually like beer. This has literally taken years, so I'm pretty excited about it. Just thought you should know.
